The surface design was created by abstracting and playfully lifting patterns from photographs of an orchid leaf taken at close range. By looking closely, and selecting portions of the shapes within the leaves many patterns and abstract whimsical shapes emerge. The abstract shapes within the field of the design come from within nature’s symmetry.
