About Louis Jane

meet Our Owner

Fragrance, the silent storyteller of personal allure.

Artist and designer, Louise Wannier, born and raised in England until she was 8 years old, when the family moved to Southern California. The tradition of working with textiles goes back to her grandfather (and namesake), Louis Arion, who was a textile wholesaler in England. A serial creative entrepreneur, Louise has worked in four different industries, Education technology, Consumer Electronics, Software Development and Fashion tech and ecommerce. Her love of textiles goes back to the days as a child when her mother, Ruth Arion Saffman took her to visit her grandfather's warehouse and when her aunt, Monica Arion Collinson Tobias taught her to dress herself for her shape. Inspired by her daily immersion into nature, Louise photographs the dynamic energy of the natural world around her. From these photographs she discovers the patterns within them and begins her design process as a digital artist; each print becomes thereby a unique fine art surface design. For Louise, her designs are a spiritual practice which connects her with the life and energy she experiences in our world.

Ethos

Louis Jane is a textile art design house, established in 2010 by artist and creative entrepreneur Louise Wannier. Louise creates original art emanating from the patterns she finds within the life and energy of our natural world.

From Louise’s original art, we create exquisite, sustainable silk scarves that are handmade in Italy.

Our vision is circular: our scarves are to be loved, treasured, shared, passed on, transformed, and when they can be enjoyed no more, they will return to nature.

The women who wear Louis Jane are independent, dynamic, intelligent changemakers. Successful, stylish, confident women who make positive choices, helping to shape our future and protect our planet.

Sounds like you? It’s what we, the women of Louis Jane, aspire to be.

Our pieces are inspired by where nature meets art, and our core values are rooted here:

SPIRITUAL

Nature is alive. It honors connection and promotes life and energy within balance.

We design as a spiritual practice. Intuitively working with images and patterns of nature, we create our designs to inspire you to surround yourself with colors and textures that resonate with your essence and open a way for you to thrive.

SELF-DISCOVERY

Nature honors the process of growing and the rhythm of time.

We design to encourage others to find and express their true self. To see the beauty in living, to be creative and bold, to speak their truths fearlessly. To inspire our families, friends, and colleagues never to stop learning, thriving, or growing. This is freedom.

ENGAGED NOT PASSIVE

Nature embodies a cycle of giving.

We believe that we are all connected and take responsibility for our earth and each other. We choose to be active participants in the world by using only fabrics that are organic and sustainable. We give 10% of the net proceeds from each sale to charities that support our values; when nature thrives, we thrive.

Scarves are one of the top fashion accessories for women and we take pride in designing and producing unique and luxury silk scarves.

Establishing Reliability

Silk & Sustainability

Silk is produced from the cocoon of silkworms, with an extremely low environmental impact: Silkworms feed only on natural food, mainly the Mulberry tree. Mulberry tree plantations allow a sustainable use of territory, and are never sprayed with fertilizers or pesticides as these damage the silkworms and the filaments they produce.

The processing of silk fibres has very low carbon emissions, and silk does not release harmful or polluting substances during its entire lifecycle.

Silk is a natural fibre, the combination of two natural proteins, and therefore leaves no residue whatsoever at the end of product life. It is easily biodegradable. However due to its high re-useablity and recyclability, before we get to that point, there is so much more we can do with this beautiful and noble material.

Customers are encouraged to return the scarves they no longer want direct to Louis Jane, and receive a credit to use against a future purchase. The old scarves are upcycled into new products like hair scrunchies, bags, purses and necklaces, to name a few.
